Me with a mo-hawk

Stand out

Spring Break is upon us and a lot of college students like to go South. Here are some tips to remember when going on spring break. I just recently went on spring break in Florida and had one of the best times of my life. One thing to remember on spring break is to do something that will help you stand out from the crowd. Everyone goes on spring break and wants to have a good time but I personally like to stand out. So, I decided to cut my hair into a mo-hawk. It was something that I had always wanted to try and I decided to do it this year. My advice to everyone is do something that will catch people’s attention. Nothing to crazy, but something that people can look at you and smile about.

Don’t over pack

Make sure you pack lightly-heavy. What I mean by this is bring everything you need but don’t over-pack to where you bring two different outfits a day. I usually try to bring enough clothes for that week. For example, if I’m going to be gone for seven days I will only bring seven shirts. (Remember that most of the time you won’t have access to a laundry machine.)

Go with friends

Only go with people you feel comfortable with. Also try go with a few people you don’t know either. If there is a time to get to know someone it’s on vacation. Especially if you have to drive South from wherever you are going, you will have a lot of time to get to know someone better.

Wear sunblock

Remember to where sunblock on the beach. Just because the sun isn’t out doesn’t mean you can’t get sunburn. It can be very dangerous and sun poison isn’t fun either. My roommate got it and it might have been one of the most disgusting things I have seen.

Play games on the way down there

If your driving like I did for 16 hours, a good way to pass time and to get to know each other is to play the two truths and one lye game.  It’s where someone says three things about themselves that nobody knows  about and the other people  have to guess which is the two truths and which is the one lie.

Saving Money

A good way to save money is to buy lunch meat and make sandwiches as much as possible. Even though your on vacation doesn’t mean you have to eat fast-food everyday. Save money and buy gifts for friends instead of eating that cheeseburger every night. Also try to workout if you can; even if it means a five-minute run. Just try to do something with a little exercise.

Beach toys

Bring things to the beach that will keep you busy. Some people like to just lay-out but I personally like to play catch with a football or something else. It’s nice to relax for a little bit but you can only be lazy for such a long time until it becomes boring.

Safety first

Whenever traveling somewhere, try to walk with a friend. Safety is  most important on vacation. Try not to get caught up in going to the beach all the time. If you can go sight seeing around the city and take in the culture. Try something new that you have never done before. Take lots of pictures and walk as much as possible.

  • Be different
  • Pack lightly-heavy
  • Go with people you will get along with
  • Sunblock on the beach
  • Play games in the car
  • Make snacks instead of buying them
  • Stay safe

One of the most important things to remember is to have fun. Your on spring break so you should have the time of your life. Spring Break is something that you will remember for the rest of you life. I know I will.
